Graduate Civil Engineer

Support Aecon’s bridge, highway, tunnel, and airport infrastructure projects by helping track costs and materials, prepare engineering documents, and coordinate construction activities.

Description

  • Develop basic plans, designs, calculations, cost estimates, and material lists in line with applicable codes, standards, drawings, and specifications.
  • Carry out routine technical surveys and inspections, then document the findings.
  • Track project costs, material quantities, and schedules.
  • Explain plans, detail sheets, and specifications to contractors and craft supervisors.
  • Coordinate project-specific material and equipment purchasing, including vendor relationships, orders, deliveries, and invoices.
  • Contribute to bids and proposals for prospective work.
  • Serve as a point of contact among clients, subcontractors, and the project team.
  • Prepare RFIs and NCRs to address design changes, requests for clarification, and technical or engineering matters.
  • Establish project cost codes and organize project information.
  • Coordinate information and requirements between estimating and site teams.
  • Check construction drawings, including isometrics and vendor drawings, before work begins.
  • Walk down completed field work packages with construction supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A degree classification of 2:2 or higher is preferred.
  • A full driver’s license is preferred.
  • Understanding of engineered tools and equipment, automated systems, and remote tooling systems.
  • Familiarity with construction software as needed, such as Primavera Scheduling Software, AutoCAD, and SAP.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for communicating with a large team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in both field and office settings.
