GIS Analyst – AtkinsRéalis, Montreal (Hybrid)

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a GIS Analyst to lead advanced spatial analysis and quality assurance for environmental and infrastructure projects. The role produces geospatial deliverables and supports multidisciplinary teams across Canada.

Description

  • Establish and record methods for environmental spatial analysis, validation, and quality control
  • Carry out advanced spatial analysis, geoprocessing, and modelling to support environmental studies and project decisions
  • Review datasets for completeness, accuracy, consistency, topology, attributes, coordinate systems, and standards compliance
  • Examine material data problems, identify their causes, recommend remedies, and coordinate follow-up with stakeholders
  • Translate analytical results into clear findings, limitations, and recommendations for environmental, engineering, and project management teams
  • Create thematic maps, performance indicators, and other geospatial outputs
  • Coordinate GIS quality-control work, evaluate technician results, and provide technical direction
  • Apply governance requirements covering naming, metadata, standards, and data traceability
  • Record methodologies, assumptions, controls, results, and project decisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geomatics, geography, environmental science, engineering, or a related field
  • At least five years of relevant experience, including three or more years on environmental, infrastructure, or multidisciplinary projects
  • Experience using ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Background in advanced spatial analysis, modelling, geoprocessing, data interpretation, and quality assurance or quality control
  • Familiarity with FME, Python, ModelBuilder, or comparable automation tools is an asset
  • Knowledge of major public data sources in Ontario and Quebec
  • Understanding of geospatial data quality, topology rules, coordinate systems, metadata, and traceability
  • Ability to establish methodologies, investigate complex issues, develop recommendations, and present conclusions to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work effectively with GIS, environmental, engineering, and project management teams
  • Advanced ArcGIS Pro capability covering analysis, geoprocessing, modelling, cartography, and geodatabase management
  • Professional proficiency in French or English
  • English is required when collaborating with Canadian or global leaders outside Quebec
  • Strong analytical, synthesis, and complex problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated rigour, sound professional judgment, and close attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
