Fluid Systems Engineer II, Blue Origin

Design and test cryogenic helium subsystems for Blue Origin lunar landers and launch vehicles. Support production, integration, qualification, and mission readiness.

Description

  • Design, procure, and bring cryogenic helium subsystems and components into production.
  • Coordinate across teams to ensure systems work together and meet requirements.
  • Assess risk and resolve system issues.
  • Improve designs for efficient manufacturing.
  • Implement flight hardware upgrades informed by root cause analysis, manufacturing, testing, flight experience, and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Work with manufacturing engineers and technicians to develop work instructions.
  • Review and resolve hardware nonconformances.
  • Create and manage project plans for cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Lead component and system testing, verification, and data analysis for qualification and hardware acceptance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience designing, analyzing, or testing fluid system components for spacecraft or launch vehicles.
  • Understanding of propulsion and fluid components, including metallic tanks, valves, and fittings.
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration, and quality control processes for tubing, piping, and machined components.
  • Experience with 3D CAD; Creo is preferred.
  • Experience preparing 2D and 3D drawings using ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
  • Experience preparing detailed reports using finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Ability to build trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Preferred: advanced engineering degree.
  • Preferred: working knowledge of cryogenic hydrogen and oxygen systems.
  • Preferred: experience with computational fluid dynamics or thermal analysis software.
  • Must pass Blue Origin’s standard background check.
