Facilities Technician – Honolulu, HI (Hybrid)

Maintain and repair American Red Cross facilities, equipment, grounds, and mechanical systems in Honolulu, with a hybrid schedule and regional travel.

Description

  • Repair and maintain plant, office, machine, and equipment assets
  • Support multiple maintenance trades, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, equipment repair, electrical work, sheet metal fabrication, and welding
  • Complete routine, periodic, and special inspections to identify repair and maintenance needs
  • Use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair equipment
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications
  • Support volunteers through development, guidance, and leadership
  • Maintain and repair organizational facilities and properties
  • Patch walls and ceilings, and repair or replace concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks
  • Paint structures and equipment
  • Install and correct minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural issues
  • Document installations and repairs for regulatory agencies
  • Install, operate, and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps, and related mechanical equipment
  • Move and store furniture and equipment
  • Estimate project timelines and material costs, and requisition supplies and equipment
  • Maintain landscaped areas through planting, pruning, watering, and fertilizer or insecticide application
  • Sweep exterior walkways and staircases, and remove snow where applicable
  • Drive vehicles to other locations
  • Complete all work in accordance with established safety procedures

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • At least three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience, is required
  • Experience in painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work
  • A trade license may be required
  • Valid current driver’s license and good driving record are required
  • Previous truck or bus driving experience is preferred
  • Basic computer skills may be required
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Availability for on-call duties may be required
  • Proficiency with various hand and power tools, chemicals, and solvents
  • Ability to move or lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to work from the chapter office three days per week and from home two days per week
  • Willingness to travel regionally 10% of the time
  • Physical ability to regularly lift or move 10–50 pounds and more than 100 pounds with assistance or a powered industrial truck
  • Ability to push carts weighing up to 250 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, with occasional sitting, climbing, or balancing
