Electrical Engineer V, Industrial Facilities (Ohio Remote)

Lead electrical design for industrial, process, and manufacturing facilities at Salas O’Brien. Oversee projects from concept through permitting, construction, and commissioning.

Description

  • Define engineering scopes, schedules, and effort-hour estimates.
  • Lead client presentations, design reviews, and project progress meetings.
  • Coordinate design and schedules across architectural, structural, mechanical, process, and instrumentation disciplines, as well as with equipment suppliers.
  • Direct engineering and design from project conception through permitting, construction, and closeout.
  • Complete final quality reviews of electrical packages and support responses to authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Track and forecast project costs and schedules, and maintain project documentation.
  • Keep project records accurate and organized for permanent files.
  • Prepare electrical plans, one-line diagrams, specifications, calculations, and studies.
  • Perform lighting and loading calculations, select equipment, and conduct short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies.
  • Sustain existing client relationships and help develop future business opportunities.
  • Provide technical direction, quality oversight, and mentorship.
  • Conduct site assessments and field investigations; support construction, startup, and commissioning; and resolve field conditions.
  • Report to the Department Manager and work with project managers, discipline leaders, clients, and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible professional electrical engineering experience.
  • At least 5 years designing electrical systems for heavy industrial, process, manufacturing, or similarly complex facilities.
  • An active Professional Engineer license is required, with the ability to obtain registration in additional jurisdictions as needed.
  • Experience as a lead electrical engineer or engineer of record.
  • Ability to independently resolve complex engineering, code, constructability, and field issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical power distribution, equipment selection and layout, circuiting, grounding, bonding, lighting, and emergency or standby power systems.
  • Ability to develop and review load calculations, short-circuit studies, protective-device coordination studies, arc-flash studies, and design recommendations using ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar software.
  • Advanced knowledge of the National Electrical Code and applicable electrical, building, fire-protection, and safety standards.
  • Ability to interpret code requirements, assess alternatives, document engineering decisions, and support AHJ responses.
  • Ability to conduct final technical and quality reviews of calculations, studies, specifications, procurement packages, drawings, and construction documents.
  • Ability to resolve complex interdisciplinary coordination, constructability, equipment-integration, and field-installation issues.
  • Ability to provide technical direction to engineers, designers, vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Experience with site assessments, field investigations, construction support, startup, and commissioning.
  • Experience using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with ElumTools, Visual, or AGi32.
  • Experience designing corporate offices, laboratories, and MEP-related warehouse facilities.
