Electrical Engineer PE I - Charlotte, NC (Onsite)

Electrical Engineer supporting power, renewable energy, energy storage, and controls projects for hospital and college campuses. The role includes engineering calculations, permitting, field assessments, and multidisciplinary design coordination.

Description

  • Sign and seal engineering documents when applicable
  • Design solar, battery storage, fuel cell, and combined heat and power facilities with senior-engineer guidance
  • Analyze and design electrical systems covering power distribution, low- and medium-voltage systems, lighting, and controls
  • Complete utility interconnection, arc-flash, short-circuit, and breaker-coordination calculations
  • Develop calculations, drawings, and specifications in accordance with established standards
  • Perform site visits, field evaluations, and data gathering
  • Coordinate and schedule 3D laser-scanning activities as needed
  • Support coordination across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Apply engineering methods within assigned scopes of work
  • Perform duties under general supervision
  • Resolve moderately complex issues and refer more complex challenges to senior staff
  • Assist with permitting and procurement activities
  • Maintain design records and address field conditions
  • Support performance, reliability, and energy-efficiency goals within ENFRA’s design-build delivery model

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline
  • At least five years of design experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Working knowledge of electrical system design and analysis
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with electrical design and modeling software
  • Clear communication and thorough documentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Experience with energy infrastructure or ESCO projects preferred
  • Willingness to travel 10–25% of the time to job sites
  • Ability to work for extended periods at a desk and computer
  • Ability to navigate stairs, ladders, ramps, and potentially scaffolding
  • Ability to work in noisy conditions, extreme temperatures, and elevated locations during field surveys
  • Ability to lift or move items weighing up to 20 pounds
