Electrical Engineer - ITM Power, Linden (Onsite)

Develop electrical systems and power supply units for ITM Power’s PEM electrolyzers. Lead FEED and EPC planning, safety concepts, and supplier coordination in Linden.

Description

  • Account for regional grid conditions and project requirements when preparing technical specifications for power electronics and hardware planning.
  • Design power supply units and develop specifications in line with international regulations and standards, including IEC, NE, ATEX, and CE.
  • Create electrical architectures, system requirements, schematics, wiring harness drawings, single-line diagrams, and field wiring designs.
  • Support teams developing new MW electrolyzer module products.
  • Design and develop complex busbar and cable connections.
  • Support plant layout development with the electrical design in consideration.
  • Prepare specifications for transformers, rectifiers, and switchboards.
  • Prepare, review, and approve design documents such as cable plans, single-line diagrams, and load schedules.
  • Act as the primary contact for electrical engineering topics.
  • Compile bills of materials, equipment lists, and single-line diagrams.
  • Carry out cable calculations.
  • Perform risk assessments to support product quality and safety.
  • Review technical documentation produced by external engineering firms.
  • Conduct technical reviews of power supply units and select final suppliers using qualitative, technical, and commercial criteria.
  • Lead FEED, basic engineering, and detailed engineering activities, including supplier communication and technical follow-up.
  • Coordinate budget, schedule, and quality objectives while determining overall plant costs with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Manage supplier documentation from tendering through project execution.

Requirements

  • A completed engineering degree.
  • At least five years of experience in electrical and hardware planning for process engineering in large-scale industrial plants.
  • Broad knowledge of current European and North American electrical engineering standards and regulations.
  • Experience developing electrical protection concepts.
  • Experience working with technical documentation and specifications.
  • Familiarity with CAD-based hardware planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational and management skills, with a proactive working style.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, plus flexibility and effective problem-solving ability.
  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English.
  • Knowledge of ATEX standards (60079), the ATEX Directive, and other legislation for potentially explosive atmospheres is desirable.
  • Experience with SOEC, SMR, fuel cells, clean fuels, energy storage systems, and/or chemical synthesis is desirable.
  • Experience in chemical process engineering within the EPC sector, including pre-FEED, FEED, and detailed engineering, is desirable.
  • Understanding of regulations and statutory requirements relevant to the hydrogen industry is desirable.
  • High-voltage system design experience is desirable.
  • Experience planning electrical installations, wiring, and schematics is desirable.
  • Experience with grid connections, high-voltage requirements, and high-voltage design is desirable.
  • Knowledge of rectifiers and EMC requirements and standards is desirable.
