DevSecOps Engineer, Kubernetes

Build secure AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes delivery pipelines for Peregrine Advisors, an AI and data innovation hub serving government clients. Drive compliance automation, security testing, monitoring, and progressive release practices.

Description

  • Develop and operate secure cloud-native AWS infrastructure alongside the CI/CD pipelines that deploy to it.
  • Create infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Embed SAST, DAST, SCA, vulnerability scanning, and secrets management into delivery workflows.
  • Automate provisioning and releases with health validation and rollback capabilities.
  • Produce compliance evidence during every pipeline execution.
  • Automate recurring operational tasks through scripting.
  • Support Docker-based applications and Kubernetes workloads.
  • Diagnose infrastructure, network, deployment, and security issues.
  • Apply NIST SP 800-53 security controls.
  • Maintain continuous monitoring and authorization documentation.
  • Use Python or Bash to automate operations and apply AI-assisted tools to improve delivery quality.
  • Build pipelines that enforce required controls and generate evidence for release reviews.
  • Replace manual release activities with progressive delivery, automated health checks, and rollback.

Requirements

  • At least four years of experience in DevSecOps or platform engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Practical experience building CI/CD pipelines with security gates using AWS CodePipeline and CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or comparable tools.
  • Experience implementing infrastructure as code with CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Hands-on experience creating Docker images and containerizing applications.
  • Experience deploying and administering Kubernetes clusters.
  • Experience implementing automated security testing, including SAST, DAST, SCA, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Ability to script with Python or Bash.
  • Strong proficiency with Linux and shell scripting.
  • Solid knowledge of computer networking, routing, load balancing, APIs, and web application architecture.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot for code generation, review, and validation.
  • Experience managing source code with Git.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging systems.
  • Proficiency with written communication, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Initial engagement requires United States citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination.
  • Preferred: federal security experience with FISMA compliance, NIST SP 800-53 controls, and Authority to Operate support.
  • Preferred: AWS certification.
  • Preferred: experience managing secrets with HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, or comparable tools.
  • Preferred: experience in federal information technology.
