DevOps Engineer - Hybrid

SAIC is seeking a DevOps Engineer to automate secure CI/CD, Linux, database, and DevSecOps operations for enterprise defense and mission IT applications. The role supports application delivery and production operations across hybrid environments.

Description

  • Design, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines for enterprise application components
  • Build and support development, testing, staging, and production environments while administering Linux-based application platforms
  • Automate application builds, testing, packaging, deployment, configuration, and release management
  • Deploy and operate React front ends, backend APIs, database components, workflow services, and AI/ML integrations
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code and configuration automation while maintaining shell scripts and automation tools
  • Manage environment-specific configuration, secrets, credentials, certificates, keys, and service settings
  • Support enterprise identity and access integrations, including SSO and MFA
  • Administer SQL and MariaDB/MySQL environments, including configuration, schema deployment, migrations, backup and recovery, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production cutovers
  • Establish centralized logging, monitoring, health checks, operational dashboards, and alerting for applications and infrastructure
  • Partner with QA to incorporate automated testing and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines
  • Apply secure DevSecOps practices covering vulnerability remediation, patching, configuration management, and technical security controls
  • Maintain release histories, deployment records, configuration documentation, and technical artifacts for traceability and audits
  • Create deployment, rollback, backup, recovery, and operational procedures while supporting recurring releases and production hypercare
  • Diagnose application, database, Linux, network, authentication, configuration, integration, and performance issues
  • Use VS Code or similar tools for scripting, configuration management, infrastructure code, Git workflows, and troubleshooting
  • Take part in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and work with developers and QA to clear deployment blockers, automate delivery, and achieve sprint and release objectives
  • Create and maintain operational runbooks and technical documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
  • At least five years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, cloud or platform engineering, systems engineering, or enterprise application deployment
  • Advanced experience administering Linux environments, including strong command-line and shell-scripting skills
  • Practical knowledge of Linux system configuration, package management, permissions, processes, services, networking, logging, and troubleshooting
  • Proven ability to design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and support development, testing, staging, and production environments
  • Experience with Git, automated application build and deployment workflows, infrastructure or configuration automation, and containerized applications
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, with experience supporting MariaDB, MySQL, or comparable platforms
  • Experience with centralized logging, monitoring, health checks, alerting, secrets and configuration management, networking, DNS, TLS certificates, firewalls, and application connectivity
  • Understanding of enterprise identity and access management, secure SDLC practices, and DevSecOps
  • Experience writing deployment procedures, operational documentation, and technical runbooks
  • Proficiency with VS Code or similar tools for scripting, automation, infrastructure configuration, and Git workflows
  • Hands-on experience in Agile/Scrum teams supporting sprint development, testing, demonstrations, retrospectives, and recurring releases
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication abilities
  • Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust
  • Preferred experience includes MariaDB/MySQL, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, containerized environments, React/API/database application stacks, federal security and authorization processes, NIST controls, FISMA, ATO processes, enterprise SSO/MFA, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, AI/ML or LLM applications, automated security scanning, performance monitoring, production cutovers and hypercare, Posit/RStudio, and regulated environments
