DevOps Engineer - Edinburgh Hybrid

Description
- Develop DevOps engineering capability, culture and working practices across the bank
- Drive technical and cultural change by expanding adoption of DevOps Centre of Excellence practices
- Coach feature and platform teams to strengthen their DevOps capabilities
- Evaluate teams' technical DevOps maturity and identify capability gaps
- Deliver workshops and training to support targeted capability development
- Use DevOps tools, methods and processes to measure, understand and visualise value flow and delivery
- Recommend appropriate DevOps capability improvements to platform and Centre of Excellence teams
- Provide insight to refine DevOps policies, standards, practices and tooling
- Use reliable data, return-on-investment analysis and value measures to inform decisions
- Improve the platform while supporting the Cloud and DevOps team
- Optimise route-to-live workflows
- Help move services from private cloud environments to public cloud
Requirements
- Substantial professional experience in software development
- Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Extensive experience writing automation scripts
- Proficiency with Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes
- Practical knowledge of AWS hosting and services
- Solid programming knowledge, preferably with Java and Spring Boot
- Experience containerising Java applications for deployment on Amazon EKS
- Demonstrable CI/CD and GitOps experience, ideally with GitLab and Argo CD
- Ability to automate workflows using Python and Bash
- Experience with observability tools including Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir and Prometheus
