Database Developer (Snowflake ETL) – Maryland Remote
Develop Snowflake ETL workflows and integrated data views for CMS healthcare research. Help researchers and government partners improve chronic-care data systems.
Description
- Distribute CMS data to researchers studying ways to improve care quality and reduce costs for chronically ill Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries.
- Load new data sources into the CMS Chronic Conditions Data Warehouse (CCW).
- Develop, optimize, and maintain views that combine new and existing datasets.
- Design and support ETL workflows in a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake.
- Support production operations through scheduled ETL load rotations, including occasional off-hours or weekend coverage.
- Record processes and business logic to support audits, troubleshooting, and onboarding.
- Work with data analysts, technical leads, and CMS partners.
- Diagnose and resolve database or performance problems while helping improve data systems continuously.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, information systems, or a related discipline.
- At least two years of Database Developer experience, preferably in government or healthcare.
- Practical experience with SQL, Python, ETL development, and Snowflake data warehouse concepts.
- Exposure to AI or machine learning applications for data quality and anomaly detection.
- Understanding of data management practices covering permissions, recovery, security, and monitoring.
- Familiarity with front-end requirements and the ability to convert business needs into backend solutions.
- Knowledge of tools and technologies including the .NET Framework, JavaScript, HTML, and Oracle.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving with strong communication abilities.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
- Successful completion of a background investigation.
