Counselor/Therapist – BrightView, Akron, Ohio (Onsite)

Provide evidence-based substance use recovery counseling at BrightView’s Akron clinic. Lead group therapy, complete assessments, coordinate care, and maintain clinical records.

Description

  • Plan and lead group therapy sessions and patient intake assessments according to clinic needs, caseload, and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Provide individual counseling sessions when clinically appropriate.
  • Support treatment planning and monitor progress toward established goals.
  • Coordinate patient care with the onsite multidisciplinary team.
  • Record treatment data accurately and promptly in the electronic health record.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable regulations and company requirements.
  • Participate in onsite staff meetings, supervision, multidisciplinary team meetings, quarterly in-service sessions, and individual and group supervision.
  • Provide occasional training and onboarding assistance for new Counselor I hires.
  • Train, onboard, and mentor counselors at the site or nearby clinics.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience as a Counselor I or in another relevant role.
  • A master’s degree is required in accordance with state regulations.
  • Active clinical licensure meeting state regulatory standards, with dependent licensure as the minimum.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Empathy and compassion to effectively support patients through recovery.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse colleagues and patients.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
  • Adaptability in a changing work environment.
  • Comfort using multiple communication and clinical documentation systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 is desired.
  • Experience with harm reduction is a plus.
