Description
- Assist Senior Cost Engineers and Product Cost Engineers throughout product development, including Design to Cost and cost benchmarking
- Prepare best-practice product cost calculations using a total-cost methodology
- Assess the cost effects of technical changes
- Validate manufacturing processes internally and with external partners, evaluating cost performance across electro-mechanics, forgings, machining, stamping, and castings
- Develop actions to optimize cost structures
- Gather and document technology-specific master data with internal and external partners
- Help define and continuously improve group-wide Cost Engineering reference processes
- Contribute to the ongoing development of technology-specific Cost Engineering tools
- Contribute to international, cross-functional projects and lead assigned subprojects
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, production, or automotive engineering, plus 4–10 years of experience
- Engineering science studies or comparable education
- Initial experience in a Cost Engineering-related role, such as Production Engineering or a Methods department
- Knowledge of manufacturing technologies including electro-mechanics, hot and cold forging, machining, stamping, and casting
- Understanding of e-axles and automatic transmissions
- Commitment to keeping technical knowledge current with state-of-the-art and best-practice standards
- Strong analytical ability
- Accurate, independent, and solution-focused working style
- Effective teamworking skills
- Strong communication and networking abilities in local and international settings
- Availability for required travel
- Knowledge of project management
