Community Development Assistant, Agroforestry – Indonesia (Hybrid)

Part-time consultant with World Resources Institute supporting agroforestry, ecotourism, and community development for KUPS enterprises. The role coordinates field activities and stakeholder engagement across Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah.

Description

  • Support field implementation of agroforestry and ecotourism activities across target locations in Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah
  • Identify and document partnership opportunities and market engagement initiatives
  • Help prepare technical materials for capacity-building activities involving commodity-based cooperatives and KUPS enterprises
  • Coordinate field logistics with the Administration and Procurement team
  • Support baseline assessments, tiering, monitoring visits, and field data collection for selected KUPS and cooperatives
  • Organize and maintain project documentation and field evidence, including photos, participant lists, geotagged data, meeting minutes, training records, and progress documentation
  • Engage with local governments, civil society organizations, private-sector representatives, and other stakeholders
  • Build productive stakeholder relationships and support alignment across program activities
  • Gather field evidence needed for stakeholder engagement and project communications
  • Report to the Sumatra Research and Program Development Lead while working with technical and administration/procurement teams
  • Travel regularly to target villages and project sites in Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah
  • Maintain KUPS assessment and monitoring datasets and prepare monthly reports
  • Consolidate records from baseline assessments, tiering exercises, monitoring visits, and field verification
  • Prepare audit-ready documentation packages covering community development, agroforestry, ecotourism, and capacity-building activities
  • Maintain stakeholder engagement records, contact lists, meeting documentation, and follow-up trackers
  • Submit monthly timesheets and work progress reports

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in forestry, agriculture, sociology, agribusiness, rural development, environmental studies, economics, or a related discipline
  • At least two years of professional experience in community facilitation, livelihood development, ecotourism, social forestry, stakeholder engagement, or rural enterprise development
  • Preference is given to candidates based in or originally from Aceh Tengah or Bener Meriah
  • Strong knowledge of community development methods and rural economic systems in the Gayo Highlands
  • Experience working with KUPS, village enterprises, cooperatives, or government institutions
  • Experience facilitating training, participatory planning, and multi-stakeholder engagement
  • Basic knowledge of business development, market linkages, and financing readiness for community enterprises
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and commonly used digital communication tools
  • Willingness to travel frequently between villages and sub-districts in Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah
  • Legally authorized to work in Indonesia
  • Existing work authorization must be in place when applying; WRI cannot sponsor a work visa
  • Must have authorization to work in Indonesia
  • Finalists may be asked to complete a test or provide writing samples when required
  • This is a locally engaged position, and Indonesian nationals are encouraged to apply
