Communications Manager, Defense and National Security (U.S. Remote)
Lead strategic communications for Primordial Labs’ autonomous-systems interface across defense, national security, and technology audiences. Drive media relations, executive communications, policy positioning, and government-affairs storytelling.
Description
- Own product communications from thought-leadership articles through launch announcements
- Develop and sustain relationships with defense, national security, and technology reporters
- Generate high-impact media coverage
- Coach company leaders for interviews, conferences, and industry demonstrations
- Refine company positioning with congressional staff, lobbying organizations, think tanks, and policy stakeholders
- Partner with marketing, growth, and engineering on integrated, multichannel campaigns
- Showcase mission outcomes at events including SOF Week and AUSA
- Keep the expanding team coordinated on messaging, company news, and external communications standards
- Collaborate with the Marketing Director to ensure consistent messaging across every channel
Requirements
- Bring at least five years of strategic communications, public relations, or journalism experience in defense, aerospace, or deep technology
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, mission-oriented material for nontechnical audiences
- Demonstrate expert command of AP Style
- Produce concise, memorable narratives on demanding deadlines
- Show success developing story pitches and handling complex media requests in regulated industries
- Hold an active Secret or higher security clearance, which is strongly preferred
- Have experience as or alongside a Military Public Affairs Officer, or a strong understanding of Department of Defense structures
- Be comfortable operating in a fast-moving, build-first startup
- Have basic working knowledge of Figma, Canva, or Adobe Creative Suite
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Currently reside in the United States
- Understand that permanent residency or visa sponsorship does not meet the applicable regulatory requirements
- Provide a portfolio containing two to three case studies or work samples that demonstrate strategic thinking, messaging, and execution across media relations, executive communications, or product launches
