Clinical Trials Scientific Affairs Supervisor – Remote UK

Supervise scientific affairs for clinical trials, including laboratory testing proposals, referral laboratory coordination, RFP reviews, and operational improvements. Lead teams and manage testing requirements in a fully remote United Kingdom role.

Description

  • Direct departmental performance by allocating resources, prioritizing work, and tracking operational metrics
  • Manage the team’s daily workload and priorities
  • Recruit, coach, and develop direct reports through role definition, training, performance management, and career development
  • Coordinate departmental communication and act as a strategic contact and escalation point
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional process improvement programs
  • Build a high-performing culture through talent planning, selection, onboarding, and ongoing education
  • Create and deliver training plans and supporting materials
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, performance feedback, and career development planning
  • Work with HR on talent management, performance, employee relations, and employee development
  • Assess clinical trial protocol testing requirements and select appropriate testing facilities
  • Prepare and review pricing documentation and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain working relationships with ACM and referral laboratories
  • Supply scientific and technical content for client RFPs and RFIs
  • Coordinate testing methodologies with referral laboratories
  • Gather and document referred testing details, including laboratory contracting
  • Connect Laboratory Operations and Sales by managing information flow
  • Escalate study, testing, and referral laboratory concerns to leadership
  • Implement more effective work methods to improve efficiency, lower costs, and address operational issues
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners and join client teleconferences
  • Advise clinical trials operations teams and external clients
  • Revise global SOPs in collaboration with leadership
  • Assess upcoming work against staffing capacity and workload
  • Act as a subject matter expert and escalation contact for internal and external clients
  • Create, maintain, and revise templates and operational tools
  • Complete additional assigned responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field or at least three years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist
  • At least five years of laboratory experience in a clinical or other regulated environment
  • Four years of clinical trials experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Generalist laboratory experience
  • Ability to lead and positively motivate colleagues
  • Demonstrates a constructive, solutions-focused approach
  • MT (ASCP) certification preferred
