Chief Technology Officer - Remote in Kentucky

Lead technology strategy for Strategic Communications, including secure cloud platforms, AI, cybersecurity, and government solutions. Manage technical teams, budgets, architecture roadmaps, and compliant technology delivery.

Description

  • Set and execute technology strategy around Strategic Communications' business objectives and customer experience
  • Direct the organization's hardware, software, data, networks, and client technology solution delivery
  • Manage technical staff across hiring, training, development, and daily operations
  • Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
  • Administer the technology budget and coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Evaluate emerging systems and technologies and recommend appropriate investments
  • Shape strategic business decisions, long-term technology plans, the technology vision, and architecture roadmap
  • Lead technology adoption and oversee implementation of new solutions
  • Partner with executive leadership to connect technology priorities to business goals
  • Protect software and infrastructure through security controls and data protection practices
  • Work with the IT and Security lead to maintain corporate network compliance with CMMC and NIST SP 800-171
  • Move legacy federal systems to secure platforms such as AWS GovCloud and Microsoft Azure Government
  • Incorporate artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data into compliant solutions
  • Explain complex technical concepts as clear mission outcomes for engineers, non-technical stakeholders, and agency leaders
  • Develop operational and service delivery playbooks and frameworks for Strategic Communications' go-to-market solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline is required
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 or more years in executive, senior leadership, or management roles
  • Experience developing operational playbooks for solution teams
  • Advanced knowledge of systems architecture, cloud infrastructure, AI tools, cybersecurity governance, policies, frameworks, and risk management
  • Experience managing at least 15 direct reports and 20 additional indirect team members
  • 10 years of experience planning, designing, managing, and deploying technology solutions, including infrastructure assessment, workflow optimization, tool integration and replacement, data export, workflow adoption, governance, and risk assessment for enterprise or public-sector organizations
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% to 50%
  • Availability to support after-hours escalations and project requirements when needed
  • Experience working with public-sector organizations, state and local government, education entities, and Federal Acquisition Regulations
  • Hands-on experience architecting systems aligned with FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-171, and CMMC
  • AWS Professional-level certification is preferred
  • Google Cloud Professional-level certification is preferred
  • CISSP or CISM certification is preferred
  • PMP or CGEIT certification is preferred
  • Preferred U.S. citizen who can obtain a security clearance when required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical reasoning skills
  • Highly organized with effective time-management skills
  • Track record of inspiring and leading high-performing teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Working knowledge of employment practices, performance management, and employee development
