Business Analyst Intern – Madison, WI (Hybrid)

Summer internship supporting enterprise applications and Agile technology projects at American Family Insurance. Translate business needs into technical requirements while gaining experience with Java and AI-enabled development tools.

Description

  • Complete a 10–14-week summer internship running from mid-May through August
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and technology teams to understand needs and project objectives
  • Collect, document, and refine requirements for system enhancements and improvements
  • Bridge communication between business partners and software development teams
  • Help maintain and update systems, applications, and related documentation
  • Take part in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement
  • Assist with testing and confirm that delivered solutions satisfy business requirements
  • Learn how enterprise applications are designed, developed, and supported alongside experienced Java developers
  • Contribute to projects that influence business outcomes
  • Explore AI-enabled development tools and emerging technologies, including Claude Code
  • Work with stakeholders, software developers, and Scrum team members to deliver technology solutions

Requirements

  • Experience delivering customer-focused solutions, support, or service
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree and enrolled full time at an accredited college or university, or participating in a university-required co-op program
  • Earned at least 24 semester hours of academic credit before the first work term begins
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%

  • Employment is subject to applicable background checks
  • Must sign a non-disclosure agreement covering proprietary information, trade secrets, and inventions
  • Ability to perform work primarily involving sitting or standing
