Big Data Developer - Talan (Remote, Spain)

Develop Spark, Scala and SQL data lake pipelines for Talan, an international technology consulting group. Support Market Risk processing, production operations and Agile delivery.

Description

  • Create, enhance and support data lake pipelines with Apache Spark, Scala and SQL
  • Develop scalable processing solutions for high-volume datasets
  • Coordinate batch workflows and dependencies through Control-M and Airflow
  • Deliver ingestion, transformation, validation and publication processes for Market Risk data
  • Improve Spark workload performance, reliability and scalability
  • Review technical and functional needs, identify gaps and recommend solutions
  • Help plan deliveries and work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Handle production incidents and investigate their underlying causes
  • Help improve operational processes continuously
  • Work with Agile squads, functional stakeholders and production support teams
  • Use software engineering and data development practices to deliver reliable, maintainable production solutions

Requirements

  • At least two years of professional experience in Big Data, Data Lakes or cloud-based data platforms
  • Practical expertise with Apache Spark, Scala and SQL for processing data at scale
  • Understanding of Data Lake architecture, data quality controls, data lineage and production-grade pipelines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfort working with technical and functional stakeholders
  • A proactive, adaptable approach to technical challenges
  • C1 English or equivalent professional fluency
  • Control-M and Airflow experience is highly valued
  • Experience with Databricks, Azure and AWS is highly valued
  • Experience with YARN and cloud computing environments is highly valued
  • Experience with CI/CD, GitHub, Jenkins and SonarQube is highly valued
  • Background in banking production environments, operational monitoring and ServiceNow is highly valued
  • Knowledge of Market Risk processes, including P&L, valuations, risk metrics and regulatory reporting data flows, is highly valued
