Associate Director, Strategic Forecasting – MSD Hybrid in Rahway

Lead strategic forecasting and insight generation for MSD pharmaceutical products and indications. Collaborate with Marketing, Finance, Market Research, and Data Science partners to guide business decisions.

Description

  • Create strategic forecasts for assigned products and indications
  • Translate forecast implications into insights that support marketing strategy
  • Partner with Market Research, Data Science, Payer Analytics, Marketing, Market Access, Finance, and other Digital Human Health teams
  • Select suitable forecasting models, tools, and techniques for assigned assets and indications
  • Prepare and present forecasts and related insights within enterprise forecasting cycles
  • Collaborate across a matrixed team with colleagues in the United States and India
  • Compare actual performance with forecasts and determine the factors driving variances
  • Coordinate forecasting inputs, outputs, and insights with business and Finance stakeholders
  • Use forecasting expertise to support strategy and decision-making
  • Communicate forecasting processes, inputs, and insights clearly
  • Facilitate connected problem-solving for defined business questions
  • Act as a strategic adviser and subject-matter leader for business partners
  • Create forecasting solutions that support business objectives
  • Travel may be required, less than 20%

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required
  • At least 5 years of experience delivering complex analytical projects in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry using market research or large patient or physician databases
  • Experience building forecasting models or related analytics, including scenario analysis and business case development
  • Experience contributing to highly cross-functional, matrixed teams
  • Ability to collaborate and lead with empathy and compassion
  • Experience leading diverse groups of colleagues and managing ambiguity constructively
  • Self-directed and proactive, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively
  • Ability to lead through influence rather than formal authority
  • Ability to understand business processes and convert business questions into specific hypotheses and analytical requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills and appreciation for data-driven analytical methods
  • Ability to create structure and clarity in an unstructured environment
  • Strong organization and effective work-prioritization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Experience in oncology, vaccines, or pharmaceutical/rare-disease therapeutic areas is preferred
  • Advanced forecasting experience is preferred, including patient-based and trend-based models, advanced scenarios and simulations, and therapeutic-area modeling nuances
  • Experience as a consultative business partner is preferred
  • Previous experience in Marketing, Market Access, Finance, Market Research, Data Science, or Payer Analytics is preferred
