Description

  • Advise GLORY on data and technology legal matters across the group.
  • Support the Group General Counsel for Data and Technology, Group DPO and AI Officer, and external legal advisers.
  • Draft, assess, negotiate, and execute commercial agreements, including reviews of customer terms and conditions.
  • Conduct data protection and technology risk assessments, including DPIAs and legitimate interest assessments.
  • Track UK GDPR, EU GDPR, EU AI Act, privacy, artificial intelligence, and technology-law developments, advising management on required compliance actions.
  • Create, implement, and review data protection, AI governance, and technology-use policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with supervisory authorities and external advisers.
  • Oversee risk and control frameworks covering data governance, information security, and AI governance.
  • Train employees on data protection, privacy, and the responsible use of technology and artificial intelligence.
  • Monitor policy compliance and identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and circulate high-level internal and external reports.
  • Manage commercial matters, change initiatives, transaction compliance, and contract close-out, extensions, and renewals.
  • Advise on GDPR requirements, data subject requests, records of processing, international transfers, and personal data breach response.
  • Advise on AI governance, AI risk assessments, model and supplier due diligence, and EU AI Act compliance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS, IaaS, cloud, software licensing, data processing, reseller, and professional services agreements.
  • Support information security and cyber-resilience programs, including incident response and legal coordination with the information security team.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of data protection and privacy law, including UK GDPR and EU GDPR, alongside the EU AI Act and a strong working knowledge of technology and software licensing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external counsel and internal stakeholders.
  • Sound legal and commercial judgment, with a pragmatic and structured approach to problem-solving.
  • Broad commercial-law knowledge and experience supporting compliance matters.
  • Confidence working independently, taking ownership, making difficult decisions, and presenting well-supported recommendations.
  • Qualified lawyer with at least three years of post-qualification experience from major firms or brands, plus relevant in-house experience; a data protection or technology-law focus is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience advising on data protection compliance, including DPIAs, data subject requests, international transfers, and personal data breach management.
  • Understanding of AI governance frameworks and developing regulations such as the EU AI Act.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating SaaS, IaaS, cloud, software licensing, and data processing agreements.
  • Knowledge of information security standards and their legal implications, including ISO 27001.
