Assistant Director, Commercial Contracting – Bengaluru

Lead alliance and ecosystem contracting for EY in Bengaluru, advising stakeholders across complex commercial agreements. Ensure policy compliance, resolve contractual issues, and guide cross-functional teams through contract finalization.

Description

  • Drive contract finalization by coordinating and following up with cross-functional teams
  • Advise the business on issues arising from new and existing contracts
  • Develop issue-resolution strategies with internal stakeholders
  • Report progress, challenges, risks, and benefits to management and relevant EY teams
  • Review, advise on, and summarize alliance agreements, teaming agreements, NDAs, amendments, and related partner documents
  • Apply EY policies to transactions and verify contractual compliance
  • Train business teams on alliance and ecosystem contracting processes and requirements
  • Set and manage stakeholder expectations for timelines and progress
  • Explain complex issues and resolve disputes with external stakeholders
  • Handle escalations from business, ecosystem, risk management, and GCO teams
  • Lead monthly discussions with business, risk management, and legal teams
  • Develop internal content that increases awareness of ecosystem relationship contracting activities
  • Prepare, review, and distribute contract status reports
  • Mentor junior team members

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree
  • Law degree supported by a consistently strong academic record
  • 8–10 years of relevant post-qualification experience
  • Experience in a multinational organization is preferred
  • Experience managing high-visibility alliance and teaming contracts
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills for senior-stakeholder interactions
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to evaluate transaction size, scope, and risk and tailor contracts accordingly
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational abilities
  • High attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ethics and integrity
  • Strong commercial and business judgment
  • Ability to operate in a demanding global environment and adapt across cultures
  • Flexibility to work both face-to-face and virtually
