Assistant Design Coordinator, Structured Apparel — Free People, Philadelphia Onsite

Support Free People’s structured apparel design and product development through tech pack creation, style tracking, BOM maintenance, sample coordination, and cross-functional collaboration.

Description

  • Provide administrative support for the creation, development, and execution of own-brand products.
  • Participate in weekly CFT meetings, record notes, and coordinate follow-up communications.
  • Help maintain the seasonal development calendar across design, buying, technical design, and production teams.
  • Organize design tools and recommend processes that support design deadlines.
  • Manage assigned development projects, including status updates and trim and artwork package tracking.
  • Create style numbers and tech packs for every assigned style.
  • Support BOM updates throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Work daily with CFT partners to monitor style development and confirm alignment with design specifications.
  • Prepare development packages and related follow-up communications.
  • Review incoming garments with the Designer and CFT partners for accuracy and brand-standard compliance.
  • Help prepare samples for monthly sketch and sample review meetings.
  • Collect daily packages from the B543 sourcing department.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Highly organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, self-directed, and motivated to move work forward.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace and Microsoft platforms.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively.
  • Builds strong working relationships and can reprioritize as needs change.
  • Has entry-level technical knowledge of apparel construction.
  • Understands fundamental design processes.
  • Able to communicate information clearly.
  • Knowledge of design tools such as PLM, VibeIQ, Figma, and generative AI assistants including Gemini and Claude is a plus.
