API Software Engineer in Edinburgh (Hybrid)

Build secure, scalable Java applications and RESTful APIs for a banking platform. Contribute across the full software lifecycle within an Agile delivery model.

Description

  • Develop and maintain secure, resilient, high-performance software solutions focused on customer needs
  • Build software, scripts and tools as part of a feature team
  • Partner with engineers, architects and business analysts across the platform
  • Deliver complex, business-critical software quickly and to a high standard
  • Oversee software throughout its lifecycle, from development and enhancement through maintenance, replacement or decommissioning
  • Help strengthen and improve software engineering practices
  • Design, develop, test and implement software solutions
  • Contribute across requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment and operations

Requirements

  • Experience in software engineering and solution design
  • Track record of delivering scalable, reliable applications across the software development lifecycle
  • Collaborative approach and enthusiasm for solving complex technical problems
  • Experience producing high-quality software in an Agile environment
  • Practical experience with Java, Spring Boot, Maven, DB2 and GitLab
  • Experience taking enterprise applications from design through deployment
  • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs using engineering standards and best practices
  • Understanding of microservices architecture, scalability, resilience, caching and performance optimisation
  • Experience tuning Java performance and troubleshooting complex issues through root cause analysis and resolution
  • Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD practices
  • Experience with Agile delivery, automation, production support and monitoring tools including Splunk and Grafana
