Android Engineer – Payment Terminals

Develop secure Kotlin and Java software for Wallee Group’s dedicated payment terminals. Connect Android, hardware, networking, and payment protocols to support reliable production transactions.

Description

  • Build and maintain Android applications and components for dedicated payment terminals
  • Connect Android components with payment applications, device services, hardware interfaces, APIs, and communication protocols
  • Deliver and troubleshoot dependable payment features and transaction flows
  • Apply TLS, certificates, cryptographic operations, secure key management, and PCI requirements
  • Diagnose problems across application, Android platform, device, network, and payment protocol layers
  • Review code, refine architecture, create automated tests, and support a dependable codebase
  • Work with Product, QA, certification teams, and fellow engineers
  • Assist with technical investigations and clarify terminal behaviour, APIs, and integration requirements

Requirements

  • Professional experience building Android software with Kotlin and Java
  • Strong knowledge of Android architecture, services, lifecycle, IPC, threading, networking, and debugging
  • Skill in designing maintainable software, understanding complex existing systems, and resolving production issues
  • Hands-on experience with TCP/IP, HTTP, and TLS
  • Knowledge of encryption, certificates, symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, hashing, and secure data handling
  • Ability to produce readable, maintainable, documented, and well-tested code
  • Professional fluency in English
  • Effective collaboration skills in an international engineering environment
  • Experience with TypeScript is a significant advantage
  • Experience with payment terminals, payment systems, embedded Android devices, POS systems, EMV, PCI, or payment protocols is helpful but not required
