Android Engineer III – Hunt Platform (Remote, United States)
Build reliable, experiment-led Android experiences for onX’s Hunt platform. Create mobile tools that help hunters explore the outdoors with confidence.
Description
- Create engaging Android application experiences
- Develop and scale hunter-focused features for the Hunt team
- Work with engineers and product managers across teams to integrate services effectively
- Help shape architectural decisions
- Write unit, integration, and acceptance tests
- Review code and improve test coverage across the team
- Design, deliver, and evaluate A/B experiments
- Develop AI into a consistent co-pilot for everyday workflows
- Own assigned work while collaborating with partners across the organization
- Report to the Engineering Manager for Hunt
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- At least four years of professional software development experience
- At least two years of professional Android development focused on Kotlin and/or Java
- Evaluate technologies and solutions for merit, stability, performance, and debuggability
- Write maintainable, well-tested, and understandable code
- Experience with continuous integration
- Permanent US work authorization is required as a condition of employment
- Willingness to travel occasionally for several days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location
- Demonstrate strong ownership, customer advocacy, curiosity about emerging technologies including AI, and a hypothesis-driven, metrics-focused approach
- Demonstrate alignment with onX Company Values; bonus experience includes Split/Eppo, client event instrumentation, Kotlin Flows and Coroutines, Jetpack Compose, speed-versus-quality tradeoffs, and distributed collaboration.
