Analytics Analyst II Hybrid Columbus

Supports Encova Insurance’s commercial lines with predictive modeling, statistical analysis, reporting, and data-driven business decisions across pricing and underwriting.

Description

  • Serve as an internal analytics advisor to business partners across the enterprise
  • Gather and combine relevant data to inform business decisions
  • Consult with analytics teams and business stakeholders to define needs and recommend solutions
  • Source and integrate data from internal and external systems
  • Develop reports and data views for business stakeholders
  • Build predictive models using linear and nonlinear regression and decision trees for loss costs, marketing response, conversion, fraud, and other target measures
  • Develop or improve tools that simulate and track the effects of business decisions
  • Document governance processes clearly and consistently
  • Partner with Data Services to increase the value of current solutions and support the adoption of new capabilities
  • Complete ad hoc analyses and reporting requests
  • Enhance data extraction workflows and processes supporting essential functions
  • Handle additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, actuarial science, or computer science; other majors may qualify based on mathematics coursework
  • At least four years of technical experience in the insurance or banking industry is preferred
  • Experience querying large datasets with SQL and/or SAS is preferred
  • Experience performing regression analysis with SAS, R, or comparable statistical software is preferred
  • Familiarity with insurance terminology and ratemaking is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving abilities are required
  • Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau is preferred
  • Ability to set priorities, work independently, and advance objectives with limited supervision
  • Ability to strengthen prioritization, organization, decision-making, time management, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Must live and work in one of the employer’s designated U.S. states
