Description

  • Design and steer production-ready Generative AI solutions from discovery through implementation
  • Direct the architecture and delivery of Generative AI solutions
  • Advise development teams on suitable tools, frameworks, and platforms
  • Convert business needs into application, service, and target-state architectures
  • Take ownership of scalability, performance, latency, observability, security, and cost optimisation across AI solutions
  • Lead technical design activities and code reviews
  • Define adaptation methods such as prompting, RAG, fine-tuning, and distillation
  • Own evaluation programs covering golden datasets, offline and online testing, LLM-as-judge, and CI regression tests
  • Establish retrieval-quality standards for chunking, hybrid search, reranking, query rewriting, and permission-aware retrieval
  • Set controls for AI security, privacy, Responsible AI, and governance
  • Manage solution economics through model routing, caching, batching, and capacity planning
  • Contribute to enterprise architecture standards and evaluate technology solutions
  • Oversee vendor developers while mentoring engineers and junior architects
  • Support business development by identifying and researching client opportunities
  • Advance internal design and development practices while maintaining documentation
  • Develop internal relationships and reinforce the firm’s reputation

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in agile product delivery
  • Hands-on experience designing and delivering production software at scale
  • Demonstrated expertise in Generative AI solution architecture
  • At least one personally delivered Generative AI system in production, with the ability to explain its architecture, failure modes, operating costs, and lessons learned
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong practical experience with Generative AI architecture
  • Experience with large language models including GPT-4, Gemini, and Llama
  • Experience with RAG, agent orchestration, and Microsoft Copilots
  • Experience with vector search and retrieval engineering
  • Experience building production AI agents
  • Experience with structured generation
  • Experience with cloud-native Azure architecture, including Azure Machine Learning and Azure AI services
  • Experience with service-oriented, event-driven, and microservices architectures
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and MongoDB
  • Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes
  • Experience with DevOps and delivery practices, including CI/CD, automation, and environment management
  • Working knowledge of user-centred product practices
  • Experience evaluating AI with golden datasets, LLM-as-judge, and prompt and model regression testing
  • Experience with LLMOps and observability
  • Knowledge of model economics
  • Knowledge of AI security topics including prompt injection, data exfiltration, jailbreak resistance, sandboxing, least-privilege identities, supply-chain risk, and the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure certification is preferred
  • Knowledge of Model Context Protocol, model adaptation, multimodal AI, AI regulation and assurance frameworks, and consulting or professional-services experience are desirable
