  • Advise business unit leaders by analyzing legal issues and delivering clear, practical counsel.
  • Build an understanding of USAA’s strategic and operational objectives through proactive engagement with business clients.
  • Partner with business units and Legal Advisory colleagues on legal matters.
  • Independently manage significant matters and lead the resolution of complex issues.
  • Advise senior leaders on business objectives and regulatory, compliance, and litigation risks.
  • Lead complex legal assignments with substantial business impact and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Present legal positions clearly and concisely on complex issues.
  • Work across USAA and the Chief Legal Office to reduce risk.
  • Track legal, regulatory, and industry developments and advise leaders on their impact.
  • Identify emerging legal and operational risks and recommend potential solutions.
  • Support and guide junior attorneys as a resource within the Chief Legal Office.
  • Lead cross-functional projects with significant impact across USAA.
  • Engage and manage outside counsel for legal advice.
  • Ensure business risks are identified, assessed, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

आवश्यकताएँ

  • Bachelor’s degree, or four years of relevant education and/or experience.
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Eight years of relevant experience, including at least seven years as a practicing attorney.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders, influence decisions, and manage work toward strategic goals.
  • At least eight years of experience serving as first or second chair in litigation, including auto insurance defense and bad faith cases.
  • Proven experience managing and litigating bad faith claims for a large property and casualty insurance carrier.
  • U.S. military experience through personal service or as a military spouse or domestic partner.
  • Must not require immigration support or visa sponsorship, including H-1B, TN, or STEM OPT training plans.
