Senior Retail Software Engineer, AI and Android
Lead development of AI-powered Android retail software spanning mobile apps, backend services, and AI agents. Partner with customers and product teams to bring commercial software from early concepts to production.
Tavsif
- Build AI-powered mobile software for retail.
- Turn product and customer needs into working software with subject matter experts.
- Guide development from early concepts and prototypes through production readiness.
- Contribute to Android apps, backend services, and AI agents.
- Set acceptance criteria, weigh technical options, and prioritize development work.
- Work with customer-facing engineers and customer IT to gather feedback, validate features, resolve integration problems, and deliver fixes.
- Create and maintain agent harnesses that connect AI models to context, tools, memory, permissions, and workflows.
- Choose, integrate, and assess AI models for reasoning, tool use, and vision.
- Improve inference quality, speed, reliability, and cost across cloud and edge deployments.
- Develop Android apps for retail handhelds and tablets, with adaptive interfaces and voice, camera, scanning, and payment features.
- Integrate apps securely with enterprise systems using APIs, events, and adapters.
- Set practices for AI-assisted coding, code review, automated tests, security, continuous integration, and software releases.
- Coach engineers, review designs and code, and lead resolution of technical issues.
- Turn recurring customer needs into reusable features for a maintainable, scalable commercial product.
Talablar
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership and hands-on delivery of new products from concept to production.
- Experience developing AI applications with large language models, agent frameworks or harnesses, tool calling, retrieval, inference, and evaluation.
- Strong background in Android development and connecting mobile applications to backend services, enterprise systems, and device features.
- Experience working with customers, customer IT teams, or customer-facing engineers to build features and resolve technical problems.
- Hands-on use of AI-assisted software development tools.
- Strong grasp of AI application architecture, including models, agent harnesses, context, retrieval, memory, and tools.
- Understanding of model selection and inference trade-offs involving accuracy, latency, throughput, cost, privacy, and cloud versus on-device execution.
- Strong Android development skills; Kotlin and Jetpack Compose are preferred.
- Strong mobile and backend engineering skills, including APIs, distributed systems, and enterprise integration.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted coding and agentic development tools.
- Ability to turn customer specifications into technical designs and acceptance tests, diagnose failures, and assess AI workflows.
- Knowledge of secure software practices, authentication, authorization, data privacy, audit logging, automated testing, continuous integration, and release management.
- Clear communication, sound technical judgment, mentoring ability, and skill in managing changing requirements across teams.
