Senior Principal Software Engineer, Ads Quality at Snap
Lead the engineering strategy for Snap’s Snapchat Ads Marketplace quality and optimization systems. Guide bidding, auctions, pacing, ranking, and revenue initiatives across engineering and data science.
Tavsif
- Define the long-term technical strategy and architecture for the Ads Marketplace
- Design and scale bidding, budget allocation, and pacing algorithms
- Improve auction design, pricing, and allocation algorithms
- Direct inventory and traffic optimization across Snapchat surfaces
- Create ad reranking and slate optimization methods
- Set objectives, evaluation frameworks, and experimentation standards
- Lead complex cross-team programs while resolving architectural trade-offs and dependencies
- Remain hands-on with prototypes, critical code, and production troubleshooting
- Improve reliability, latency, scalability, and cost efficiency across engineering systems
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders
- Develop shared technical foundations that help teams deliver independently
Talablar
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- At least 10 years of post-bachelor’s software development experience, or a relevant master’s degree with 10 years of post-graduate experience, or a related PhD with 7 years of post-graduate experience
- At least 3 years of technical leadership or domain expertise within a technical organization
- Track record of setting technical direction and delivering complex engineering initiatives across teams, from architecture through measurable production impact
- Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems
- Deep knowledge of one or more areas of advertising marketplace optimization
- Strong grounding in algorithms, optimization, statistics, and distributed systems
- Advanced programming and software design capabilities, including debugging, performance analysis, testing, and operation of highly available systems at scale
- Ability to translate ambiguous business and technical challenges into strategy, measurable goals, and an executable multi-team roadmap
- Sound technical judgment when balancing advertiser results, revenue, user engagement, system complexity, and operational risk
- Ability to influence across organizational boundaries, explain complex trade-offs clearly, and develop senior engineers and technical leaders
