Principal Software Engineer, Medical Guardian (Philadelphia Hybrid)
Lead the modernization of Medical Guardian’s digital health and safety platform through Azure architecture, C#/.NET services, IoT systems, and production agentic AI workflows.
Tavsif
- Lead application architecture for new development in partnership with owners of existing systems
- Document decisions on application structure, technology and framework selection, integration strategies, and service boundaries
- Act as the escalation point for complex technical decisions
- Design, develop, and maintain shared frameworks, libraries, and abstractions
- Own authentication, authorization, error handling, resilience, logging, metrics, observability, integration standards, and service contracts
- Write and review production PHP code for existing systems and C#/.NET code for new services and modernization initiatives
- Establish technical quality standards and evaluate technical debt against delivery tradeoffs
- Work with release and operations leaders to deliver production-safe changes
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and implementation-focused design discussions
- Contribute technical guidance to scoping and estimates while identifying architectural risks
- Partner with DevOps and infrastructure teams on deployment patterns, CI/CD improvements, and consistent environments
- Explain technical decisions to engineering leadership and other stakeholders
- Supervise and line-manage a small group of engineers while remaining primarily hands-on
Talablar
- At least 10 years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on work on production systems
- A track record of owning architectural decisions and technical direction for complex applications
- Strong backend development experience with C# and .NET for services and APIs
- Experience designing and maintaining clear APIs and service interfaces, including third-party integrations
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including AKS and core Azure integration and messaging services
- Experience delivering containerized applications with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong relational database experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including schema design and data access patterns
- Experience with event-driven or asynchronous architectures and messaging-based systems
- Ability to work in established PHP codebases while leading migration to cloud-native C#/.NET services on Azure
- Production experience building agentic AI workflows with agent frameworks, tool or function calling, RAG, and MCP
- Ability to work from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
- Preferred: Familiarity with IoT systems or telemetry-driven backends
- Preferred: Experience integrating Salesforce, e-commerce platforms, or other enterprise SaaS systems
- Preferred: Working knowledge of Linux systems and system administration concepts
- Preferred: Experience with production monitoring, logging, and metrics
- Preferred: Familiarity with PHP-based enterprise systems
- Preferred: Experience helping teams adopt agentic AI through standards, guardrails, shared context layers, RAG pipelines, MCP servers, and evaluation
