Senior Engineer, Transmission and Distribution Standards
Develop transmission, distribution, and substation standards for AES Ohio and AES Indiana. Help ensure electric-grid designs, construction, and operations are safe and reliable.
Opis
- Create and maintain standards for transmission, distribution, and substation systems.
- Advise engineering, construction, and field services teams on technical matters.
- Prepare equipment specifications, design guides, and construction standards for electrical systems from 12 kV to 345 kV.
- Support overhead and underground distribution, transmission line design, and substation equipment work.
- Assess new technologies, industry practices, and lessons learned.
- Take part in site visits, equipment investigations, and incident reviews.
- Trace root causes and lead ongoing improvement efforts.
- Coordinate with AES Ohio and AES Indiana teams to align work practices and engineering methods.
- Work with engineering, operations, construction, safety, and maintenance stakeholders.
- Weigh safety, cost, constructability, schedule, operational performance, and long-term asset management in technical decisions.
- Prepare, review, and revise construction standards and engineering drawings with drafting and design teams.
- Research and apply technical documents, industry standards, and manufacturer guidance.
Zahteve
- Hold a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited or equivalent accredited engineering program.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Be able to analyze and apply technical documents, including manufacturer specifications, industry publications, and IEEE and ANSI standards.
- Be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
- For Senior Engineer level, have at least three years of engineering, design, construction, or related technical experience involving transmission, distribution, or substation systems.
- For Engineer level, have at least one year of practical engineering, design, construction, or related technical experience involving transmission, distribution, or substation systems.
- Show the ability to apply technical expertise to complex engineering challenges and contribute to standards development.
- A master's degree in engineering is a plus.
- Knowledge of electric utility systems, power system design, or utility construction practices is beneficial.
- Relevant internship, co-op, academic, military, project-based, or professional experience is encouraged.
