- Build low-level firmware in C for microcontroller-based optical communication systems.
- Set firmware requirements, interfaces, and system behavior with hardware and system architects.
- Create device drivers, control loops, diagnostics, telemetry, and communication protocols.
- Improve firmware performance, power efficiency, memory use, and long-term reliability.
- Lead board bring-up, hardware and software integration, and system-level validation.
- Promote secure, scalable, and maintainable firmware development practices.
- Improve CI/CD with GitLab and automated build and test pipelines.
- Set up unit, integration, and system-level testing strategies.
- Investigate complex issues across firmware, hardware, and system boundaries and identify root causes.
- Mentor junior engineers and co-op students.
- Contribute to technical roadmaps, architecture reviews, and design discussions.
- Maintain technical documentation, coding standards, and development processes.
- Work with external partners and manufacturing teams to support production deployment and ongoing operations.
Zahteve
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent education and professional experience.
- At least 10 years of professional experience developing embedded firmware.
- Expert proficiency in C for embedded systems.
- Extensive experience developing firmware for microcontrollers such as PSoC or STM32 in resource-constrained environments.
- Strong knowledge of embedded systems fundamentals, including interrupts, DMA, RTOS concepts, bootloaders, and memory management.
- Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, or system-level tools.
- Experience with version control and CI/CD workflows using Git and GitLab.
- Hands-on debugging experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and related lab instruments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
