Senior Backend Lead, Python/GIS - Valencia Hybrid

Descriere

  • Design and develop Pathfinder’s backend data model, REST APIs, and supporting services
  • Build, optimise, and maintain geoprocessing workflows and spatial-data capabilities
  • Set backend priorities with the CTO and coordinate agile delivery across the team
  • Lead code reviews and establish standards for testing, documentation, and security
  • Coach and develop backend engineers
  • Add AI capabilities to the backend, including model endpoints, MCP servers, and AI agents
  • Promote effective AI-assisted development throughout the engineering team
  • Support product-roadmap planning and technical estimation
  • Report to the CTO while partnering with Frontend, DevOps, and GIS Data teams

Cerințe

  • At least five years of professional software-development experience, primarily in backend engineering
  • Advanced Python skills, including GIS libraries such as GEOS, GDAL/OGR, Shapely, or GeoPandas
  • Practical experience developing geospatial applications with PostgreSQL and PostGIS
  • Demonstrated ability to design and maintain REST APIs and scalable backend services
  • Technical leadership experience coordinating developers, reviewing code, and mentoring, with or without a formal management title
  • Solid understanding of Git, automated testing, and CI/CD practices
  • Professional working proficiency in English
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, GIS/Geoinformatics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Django or Django REST Framework experience is an advantage
  • Experience running geoprocessing pipelines at scale and working with large spatial datasets is an advantage
  • Experience with AWS, Docker, and Linux is an advantage
  • Scrum or other agile-delivery experience is an advantage
  • Hands-on experience applying AI or GeoAI in a product is an advantage
