Closures Systems Engineer

Design and release closure mechanisms for Ford’s Universal Electric Vehicle platform. The role spans concept development, simulation, prototyping, technical documentation, and industrialization.

Apraksts

  • Design, develop, and release mechanisms for vehicle closure applications.
  • Investigate, create, and implement designs for future products on Ford’s Universal Electric Vehicle platform.
  • Partner with the studio team to turn design concepts into solutions that meet styling and engineering goals.
  • Apply engineering analysis and simulation to validate product function and quality throughout development.
  • Refine concepts using statics, mechanics of materials, dynamics, and mechatronics.
  • Build proof-of-concept prototypes to test virtual designs in physical form.
  • Prepare design and technical records, including part and assembly drawings, for sourcing, manufacturing, and service teams.
  • Own design decisions through design, tooling, testing, and build stages.
  • Work with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to support industrialization.
  • Review project costs with supply chain partners, balancing design effectiveness and safety.
  • Maintain bills of material and accurate project records.
  • Define work scope and requirements, identify risks, estimate budgets, and report sealing-system progress.
  • Deliver integrated EV sealing systems that meet cost, weight, efficiency, and operating tolerance targets.

Prasības

  • At least 6 years of experience in automotive product development.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 or V6, 3DX, or comparable CAD software.
  • Experience using Confluence and Jira.
  • Detailed understanding of product development from design and development through validation and industrialization.
  • Knowledge of materials, processes, and technologies used in automotive electromechanical systems.
  • Interest in exploring inventive mechanisms for current and future closure systems.
  • Track record of advancing multiple projects across locations and timelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and interest to work across functions in a fast-paced, high-performing team.
  • Systems-oriented approach, curiosity, and commitment to strong execution and continuous improvement.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Python, MATLAB, or similar skills for developing, generating, and evaluating kinematic and dynamic models are a plus.
  • Experience post-processing CAE data with META, Altair HyperView, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Experience deploying automotive mechanisms at scale and to quality standards is a plus.
