Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Linux and Proxmox

Maintain a Neo Group partner’s Linux and Proxmox infrastructure, including virtual machines, backups, and operational automation. Support infrastructure migrations and production changes across hybrid locations.

Aprašymas

  • Maintain Debian and Rocky Linux infrastructure.
  • Operate Proxmox VE clusters and virtual machines.
  • Manage virtual machines from provisioning through migration, upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Plan and carry out Linux and Proxmox updates, including major version upgrades.
  • Schedule and perform infrastructure maintenance in production environments.
  • Manage virtual machine and server backups and restores, and verify recovery procedures.
  • Troubleshoot compute, storage, operating system, and networking issues.
  • Automate recurring operational work with Ansible and scripts.
  • Contribute to infrastructure migrations and production changes.
  • Prepare change plans, validation steps, and rollback procedures for high-risk infrastructure work.

Reikalavimai

  • At least five years of hands-on Linux infrastructure experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Debian and Rocky Linux.
  • Production experience with Proxmox VE, KVM/QEMU, and Proxmox clusters.
  • Understanding of cluster concepts, including quorum, Corosync, and failure scenarios.
  • Practical ZFS experience, including pools, datasets, snapshots, replication, disk replacement, and failure recovery.
  • Experience with virtual machine migration, including live migration.
  • Experience carrying out Linux and Proxmox updates and upgrades.
  • Strong Linux administration skills covering systemd, package management, boot processes, filesystems, LVM, RAID, mounts, permissions, SSH, and sudo.
  • Understanding of Linux networking, including TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, bonding, DNS, MTU, and basic firewall concepts.
  • Hands-on backup and restore experience, including recovery after virtual machine or server failures.
  • Understanding of backup, snapshot, and replication concepts.
  • Experience with Proxmox Backup Server or a similar solution.
  • Practical experience with Ansible, Bash, and Git.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across CPU, memory, disk I/O, filesystems, and networks.
  • Preferred: experience with shared or distributed storage such as Ceph, SAN, iSCSI, or NFS.
  • Preferred: Python experience.
  • Preferred: familiarity with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, or Grafana.
  • Preferred: experience with physical servers and data center hardware.
  • Preferred: experience with hardware RAID or HBAs.
  • Preferred: familiarity with IPMI, iDRAC, or iLO.
  • Preferred: participation in disaster recovery or infrastructure migration projects.
  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
  • Careful approach to production changes.
  • Ability to independently resolve complex infrastructure issues.
  • Good documentation and communication skills.
  • Commitment to automation, reliability, and operational simplicity.
