- Manage an assigned portfolio of CPG clients from onboarding through recurring monthly delivery.
- Oversee month-end close, reviewing and approving work by Associates and Senior Associates before delivery.
- Prepare financial statements, board reporting packages, and management commentary.
- Analyze margin trends, cost structures, trade spend efficiency, and working capital.
- Reconcile trade promotion accruals, deductions, and promotional liabilities.
- Manage inventory accounting, including landed costs, obsolescence reserves, and reconciliation across warehouse and 3PL partners.
- Apply COGS structures and gross-to-net revenue accounting across DTC, Amazon, retail, and distributor channels.
- Manage accruals for co-packers, contract manufacturers, and suppliers.
- Support accounting for slotting fees, new retail placement costs, and retailer compliance charges.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition across channels, promotions, returns, and deductions.
- Resolve complex accounting matters, including equity and SAFE transactions, deferred revenue, and intercompany activity.
- Apply accounting policies consistently and maintain accurate, documented, audit-ready records.
- Direct the daily accounting work of Associates and Senior Associates.
- Review deliverables and give practical feedback to strengthen CPG accounting skills.
- Manage close schedules and escalate capacity, quality, coverage, policy, and high-risk issues as needed.
- Lead client onboarding, including chart of accounts design, systems setup, historical data migration, and process documentation.
- Identify opportunities to expand Graphite’s services as clients grow, add channels, or approach fundraising milestones.
- Manage client communications, including questions, close updates, deliverables, and escalations.
- Explain complex financial information clearly to CPG founders and operators.
- Take part in client calls, board meeting preparation, investor reporting discussions, and lender or retailer financial reviews.
- Coordinate with operations leads, supply chain partners, and sales teams to gather information for accurate reporting.
Reikalavimai
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- CPA credential strongly preferred.
- Four to seven years of accounting experience, including direct ownership of month-end close.
- Public accounting experience at Senior Associate or Manager level, or outsourced accounting experience, strongly preferred.
- Hands-on CPG accounting experience, including ownership of a CPG brand’s books.
- Strong knowledge of trade promotion accounting, deductions, landed costs and inventory valuation, gross-to-net revenue, and COGS in multi-channel CPG.
- Experience with CPG brands selling through retail, DTC, Amazon, and distributor channels.
- Familiarity with NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Cin7, Inventory Planner, Shopify, and 3PL management systems.
- Strong command of GAAP and practical experience applying it in startup or growth-stage CPG companies.
- Ability to manage multiple client relationships and consistently meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain financial information clearly to founders and non-finance operators.
- Experience with VC-backed company structures, SAFE and convertible note accounting, and investor reporting is a strong advantage.
