Field Engineer, Boilers and HRSGs

Inspect boilers and heat recovery steam generators at power utility sites for Babcock Power Services. Gather performance data, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and support energy projects.

  • Inspect boiler and HRSG units.
  • Gather operating and performance data.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and performance issues.
  • Promote company products and services through direct site visits.
  • Support major projects.
  • Apply knowledge of utility and industrial boiler configurations, systems, operation, maintenance, and performance.
  • Visually inspect boiler systems.
  • Test and tune boiler performance to meet emissions requirements.
  • Collect and assess boiler performance data, including NOx, CO, and O2.
  • Inspect HRSG exterior, gas-side, and waterside components.
  • Perform UT testing, or apply UT testing knowledge, to pressure and non-pressure components.
  • Work with high-energy piping systems, hangers, and supports.
  • Test pulverizer coal fineness and distribution; determine heat-balance A/C ratios; develop pulverizer characterization curves; and test and tune burners.

Reikalavimai

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; an associate degree plus five years of relevant experience, or seven years of relevant experience, may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including heat transfer, combustion efficiency, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Proficiency in documentation and report writing.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, more than 60% of the time.
  • Physical ability to crawl extended distances, bend, lift an average of less than 50 pounds, and enter boilers and auxiliary equipment through existing access openings.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
