- Create and manage radiation-hardness assurance for the compute payload.
- Model the mission’s orbital radiation environment with CREME96, SPENVIS, or other methods.
- Turn radiation environment models into component-level test requirements.
- Set and lead the end-to-end radiation mitigation strategy.
- Establish design margins and work with designers on component selection, shielding, and fault tolerance.
- Assess how device-level single-event effects may affect system performance, including data corruption, resets, and degradation.
- Work with systems engineers to define radiation effects bounds.
- Plan and run radiation-effects test campaigns at accelerator facilities.
- Coordinate long-lead logistics for accelerator beam time.
- Track radiation risks, component test status, and analyses for design reviews and flight-readiness decisions.
- Partner with hardware, software, and EEE parts teams to incorporate mitigation strategies into system design.
- Support Blue Origin’s Sunrise constellation of orbital data centers.
