Principal Technical Architect, Enterprise Application Modernization

- Own and maintain the target architecture and its documented design decisions.
- Define and oversee architecture for identity federation and attribute-based access control, the composable application shell, the event-driven work-item hub, externalized business rules, the capability registry, and the integration gateway.
- Set technical direction and architectural standards for secure, scalable, interoperable enterprise applications.
- Act as the senior technical authority for the Platform Lead and development squad leads.
- Set integration levels for applications connecting to and participating in the enterprise platform.
- Define architectural conformance checks and technical requirements for onboarding applications.
- Review and approve application manifests before admitting applications to the capability registry.
- Ensure modern applications integrate securely with legacy systems.
- Present and defend architectural designs and decisions at sprint demonstrations, phase-exit reviews, and customer architecture and authorization boards.
- Work with technical teams and government stakeholders.
- Guide architecture throughout implementation so development teams deliver solutions aligned with the approved target architecture.

- Bring 15 or more years of software architecture experience, including hands-on delivery of enterprise-scale solutions.
- Demonstrate experience designing and delivering identity-federated, zero-trust web platforms.
- Have hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and legacy-system integration.
- Show a record of developing architectures successfully implemented by multiple engineering teams.
- Demonstrate strong technical leadership, including setting architectural direction and guiding multidisciplinary development teams.
- Communicate complex architectural decisions effectively to technical teams, government stakeholders, and review boards.
- Experience with Keycloak, Open Policy Agent (OPA), Debezium, Envoy, and Kubernetes deployed in AWS GovCloud is preferred.
- Familiarity with Department of War (DoW) Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements is preferred.
- An active Secret security clearance or higher is preferred.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance.
