PostgreSQL Database Architect
Design, secure, and modernize PostgreSQL databases supporting GDIT’s U.S. intelligence customers. This full-time onsite role supports database infrastructure, migrations, performance, and high availability.

- Design and support database infrastructure deployments and ongoing management.
- Manage server functionality and efficiency across operating systems.
- Protect database integrity and security.
- Configure role-based access controls and administrative permissions.
- Create administrator and service accounts.
- Maintain documentation for configurations, standards, and procedures.
- Work with users and assess vendor products.
- Set policies and standards for allocating computing resources, then monitor their application.
- Create testing strategies and record results.
- Recommend performance tuning and train end users.
- Keep current with relevant technologies.
- Assess open-source and vendor tools.
- Contribute to database migration and modernization initiatives.
- Work with developers on schemas, query optimization, and stored procedures.
- Plan and carry out database upgrades, patches, and migrations.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support an intelligence customer onsite in Springfield, Virginia, or St. Louis, Missouri.

- An active TS/SCI clearance is required; the role also requires a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, which the employer can sponsor.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, and work experience.
- At least five years of related database analysis or administration experience.
- PostgreSQL experience is required.
- Experience administering and tuning PostgreSQL databases.
- Knowledge of and experience implementing database high-availability solutions and performance tuning.
- Experience monitoring, creating, and managing PostgreSQL server agent alerts.
- Experience with database backup, restore, migration, and snapshot tools or strategies.
- Knowledge of efficient table structures for transactional and data warehouse workloads.
- Migration experience involving Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Oracle database administration is an advantage.
- CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent is recommended.
- Ability to work at a customer site in Springfield, Virginia, or St. Louis, Missouri.
