  • Maintain balanced coverage aligned with CBC style and Journalistic Standards and Practices
  • Assemble story packages using photos, video, graphics, and embedded content
  • Keep the digital news lineup focused on the day’s leading stories and priorities
  • Work with writers and producers on assignments while incorporating under-represented perspectives
  • Spot editorial gaps and provide clear guidance to strengthen stories and their presentation
  • Edit and deliver coverage ranging from breaking news to long-form features across CBC digital and social channels
  • Support journalism throughout British Columbia and Local Service Expansion reporters in western Canada
  • Exercise independent editorial judgment while adapting to changing visual storytelling tools

  • Professional-level English reading, speaking, and writing skills
  • Sound news judgment and strong critical-thinking ability
  • Understanding of legal and ethical considerations in journalism
  • Demonstrated ability to package online news stories in compelling, innovative formats
  • Ability to handle substantial volumes of rapidly changing information
  • Strong headline-writing ability
  • Effective communication skills
  • Availability to work flexible weekday and weekend hours
  • University degree or equivalent qualification
  • Preferred: at least three years of editing experience at a print or digital publication
  • Content management system experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of Canadian Press style is an asset
  • Social media experience, including creating social content, is an asset
  • Candidates may be required to complete skills and knowledge assessments
  • Successful candidates must complete a mandatory criminal record check, and additional background checks may apply
