Surety Underwriting Manager - Hybrid

Lead financial analysis, pricing, renewals, and underwriting for contract and commercial surety risks at IAT Insurance Group. Manage agency relationships while supporting branch and home office underwriting teams.

Description

  • Analyze financial and account information for new, existing, and renewal business
  • Collect required financial records for assigned accounts
  • Prepare bond renewals and assess whether cancellation is appropriate
  • Build agency relationships through responsive service and support
  • Underwrite authorized low-value bonds and renewals
  • Guide Bond Underwriting Assistants through bond-processing activities
  • Recommend actions on assigned accounts and agents to Branch and Home Office Reports
  • Rate and review bonds for accurate premiums and classifications
  • Maintain complete, accurate files with all required documentation
  • Serve as the main service contact and visit assigned agents to strengthen relationships
  • Share assigned-account knowledge with branch and home office personnel
  • Organize workflow and consistently meet deadlines
  • Handle additional job-related responsibilities as needed
  • Coordinate with regional underwriters, home office staff, agents, and principals

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, mathematics, business, or a related field plus at least seven years of surety experience, or an equivalent background
  • An equivalent background consists of 11 years of relevant finance experience
  • At least five years of professional experience in the surety industry
  • Comprehensive understanding of the surety industry
  • Strong analytical ability, including applying loss development and advanced loss analysis concepts to price risks effectively
  • Ability to use coverage features, deductibles, or reinsurance creatively to support company objectives for individual risks
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Must not need visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • AFSB designations are preferred
  • Experience with contract and commercial surety is preferred
