Staff Engineer / Senior Developer – Elixir, Ruby & Flutter (Remote, US)

Description

  • Lead technical direction across multiple custom software projects
  • Plan and execute technical delivery while improving team effectiveness
  • Maintain product requirements, backlog priorities, technical direction, and sprint plans in partnership with the Project Manager
  • Contribute code, pair with developers, conduct reviews, and apply AI tools to improve delivery without compromising quality
  • Mentor teams of 2 to 6 developers, designers, and QA analysts
  • Co-lead project delivery with the Project Manager to meet budget and schedule commitments
  • Apply SmartLogic’s product development practices and establish weekly team objectives
  • Lead CI/CD, deployment approaches, AI initiatives, environment configuration, and production operations hands-on
  • Keep leadership and project teams informed about progress, risks, challenges, and staffing needs
  • Contribute to technical discovery, architecture, and rough-order-of-magnitude estimates for consulting and sales opportunities
  • Design, assess, and support secure, scalable cloud and server environments, primarily on AWS and Azure
  • Act as the technical authority for assigned projects, including QA and pull request reviews
  • Support pre-sales work through solution design, scope clarification, and estimation

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience applying modern software development practices and technologies to custom client projects
  • At least 7 years of experience with Ruby on Rails, Elixir, and Phoenix
  • At least 2 years of experience with Flutter and/or React Native
  • At least 5 years of experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, deployment, and tooling
  • Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools in a production codebase
  • Ability to test and review AI-generated code against standard engineering expectations
  • Ability to assess AI tools and create consistent workflows for teams
  • Sound judgment in identifying security, privacy, or quality risks introduced by AI assistance
  • At least 3 years of consultancy experience, beyond work exclusively in product companies
  • Experience with technical discovery, solution design, and estimation for client engagements and sales prospects
  • A structured, deliberate, and considerate approach to process
  • Ability to establish and manage expectations with teammates and managers
  • Availability during SmartLogic’s weekday core hours of 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM ET
  • Based in the United States or one of its territories
