Staff Accountant - Stuart, Florida (Onsite)

Staff Accountant responsible for cost accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close at CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. The role supports project cost reporting and financial statement preparation across parent and subsidiary entities.

Description

  • Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and other month-end adjustments
  • Complete monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations while maintaining general ledger support schedules
  • Support monthly and year-end close activities, including financial report and statement preparation
  • Use cost accounting methods to track, reconcile, and analyze labor, subcontractor, equipment, and other direct project costs
  • Review cost codes and allocations to confirm expenses are assigned accurately to projects and accounts
  • Produce job cost reports, analyze variances, and partner with project managers to resolve discrepancies
  • Complete intercompany reconciliations and help record transactions between multiple entities
  • Provide support for accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting, depreciation, and sales and use tax reporting
  • Examine general ledger activity, research unusual transactions, and correct accounting discrepancies
  • Keep accounting records organized and compile documentation for audit requests
  • Work with accounting and other departments while contributing to assigned special projects

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of cost accounting, including job costing, direct and indirect cost allocation, project cost analysis, and variance analysis
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • Two to four years of accounting experience preferred, with hands-on experience in cost accounting or project accounting
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and basic U.S. GAAP principles
  • Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and accounts payable and receivable transactions
  • Experience with multi-entity and intercompany accounting preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, reconciliations, and analysis of large data sets
  • Experience with ERP or accounting software; Acumatica experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and work with limited supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Current, long-term authorization to work in the United States
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
