Software Engineer II, Java/Spring Boot — Global Payments, Boston Hybrid

Join Global Payments as a Software Engineer II building Java and Spring Boot microservices for payment processing. Develop scalable features, merchant onboarding automation, and card-brand integrations in a hybrid Boston-area role.

Description

  • Coordinate application development and client delivery workstreams.
  • Design, build, and test dependable software for high-volume, highly available platforms.
  • Create and support scalable microservices.
  • Enhance a complex monolithic application serving payment processing and value-added merchant services.
  • Partner with Product, Platform, Merchant Services, and Support teams to convert business needs into technical solutions.
  • Apply Agile practices such as pair programming and test-driven development.
  • Release production changes without platform downtime or disruption to transaction processing.
  • Develop e-commerce payments expertise while delivering new product capabilities.
  • Automate merchant onboarding for card-brand registration and payment processing.
  • Build file-based integrations and connect internal microservices to card-brand REST APIs.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • At least five years of relevant Java software engineering experience, excluding internships.
  • Strong capabilities in software design, SQL, and Java programming.
  • Ability to interpret high-level business objectives and convert them into technical solutions.
  • Flexibility to respond to evolving business requirements and priorities.
  • Experience with microservices architecture, globally distributed services, and round-the-clock support.
  • Experience designing REST APIs and using cloud technologies including Kubernetes and Kafka.
  • Proficiency in SQL, relational data modeling, and database schema design.
  • Must live in the Greater Boston Area or work hybrid three days per week from the Alpharetta, Georgia office.
