Software Engineer II – Hybrid, United States

Description

  • Build, enhance, and maintain business-critical applications
  • Evaluate business needs and help design and document scalable technical solutions
  • Maintain technical diagrams and documentation, including context, data-flow, and process-flow diagrams
  • Create and carry out unit, integration, and regression testing plans
  • Investigate application and integration problems, resolve defects, and support root-cause analysis
  • Produce modular, maintainable, and reusable software components
  • Use AI technologies and AI-assisted development tools to increase engineering efficiency and software quality
  • Contribute throughout the Agile SDLC, from sprint planning and implementation through testing and deployment
  • Lead and contribute to peer code reviews
  • Coach junior engineers and encourage consistent engineering practices
  • Develop practical knowledge of health plan operations and associated systems
  • Join the on-call rotation supporting critical software platforms
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least one language such as Java, Go, or TypeScript
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and complex SQL query development, including MSSQL or PostgreSQL
  • Extensive Git experience covering branching strategies, pull requests, and merge-conflict resolution
  • Ability to work effectively with IntelliJ, VSCode, or Eclipse
  • Hands-on experience with REST APIs, SOAP, and microservices architecture
  • Practical experience using AI in development workflows or incorporating AI capabilities into applications, products, or business processes
  • Advanced Linux skills, including scripting and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of Agile practices and the complete Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI
  • Strong grounding in secure coding and performance optimization
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work productively with cross-functional teams
  • Self-directed, proactive approach with a commitment to ongoing learning
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities for moderately complex technical problems
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and help foster an inclusive team culture
  • Preferred: familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Preferred: experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Preferred: experience with React, Next.js, CSS/SASS, Material UI, or Bootstrap
  • Preferred: experience with JUnit, Jest, or Mocha
