Senior Thermal Design Engineer – ZEISS Group, Jena

Design and validate thermal systems for ZEISS semiconductor metrology technology in Jena. Apply CFD, finite element methods, MATLAB, and Python to develop thermal solutions.

Description

  • Design thermal and fluid-dynamic architectures for mechatronic and optical components from initial development through consideration of performance, schedule, and cost.
  • Create models and methods for identifying and controlling thermal systems used in semiconductor metrology solutions.
  • Develop thermal concepts and validate them through one-dimensional and three-dimensional simulations.
  • Plan tests for design verification and model validation.
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams spanning internal and external developers, service providers, and suppliers.
  • Establish and coordinate requirements with relevant stakeholders.
  • Produce comprehensive development documentation.
  • Support design verification, manufacturability, integration, and effective risk management.

Requirements

  • Hold an excellent university degree in aerospace engineering, mechatronics, cybernetics, process engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics, with professional experience in both industry and academia.
  • Bring deep expertise in numerical modeling, system identification, model reduction, and thermal-system control.
  • Have several years of experience designing thermal and thermoelastic components.
  • Have experience programming and applying CFD and finite element methods with ANSYS, MATLAB, and Python.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Work independently with a structured and systematic approach.
  • Be comfortable contributing to interdisciplinary teams in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Be highly effective at organizing, communicating, and presenting tasks and work results.
  • Have excellent written and spoken English skills.
