Senior Software Engineer, Observability — Remote in Latin America

Build Go-based observability software at NetBox Labs for network automation products. Contribute to open-source projects such as Orb, Diode, and pktvisor.

Description

  • Join NetBox Labs’ Observability Team and help advance its core product areas.
  • Develop closed- and open-source software for Orb, Diode, pktvisor, and related projects.
  • Partner with product owners to turn concepts into polished user experiences.
  • Work with the NetBox team to build observability capabilities within NetBox.
  • Integrate observability solutions with NetBox Cloud and Enterprise alongside the platform team.
  • Engage with community members who use and contribute to the projects.
  • Support Network Discovery and Reconciliation, Network Observability and Monitoring, and Agents and Fleet Management.

Requirements

  • Bring at least five years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrate deep proficiency in idiomatic Go.
  • Have built protobuf APIs using gRPC and Connect RPC.
  • Be experienced with PostgreSQL and database migrations.
  • Be comfortable working with Redis and RabbitMQ.
  • Understand multi-tenant services, OAuth2/OIDC, and event-driven architectures.
  • Know how to implement at-least-once delivery and idempotent consumers.
  • Have deep knowledge of observability and instrumentation, including OpenTelemetry.
  • Understand networking fundamentals, including devices, configuration, protocols, and layers.
  • Use coding agents responsibly while owning correctness, security, and test quality.
  • Communicate clearly and write technical specifications supported by diagrams.
  • Preferred: At least three years in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Preferred: Experience with MQTT or other device and IoT protocols, or with gNMI.
  • Preferred: Production experience with Kubernetes.
  • Preferred: Experience with Django, NetBox, or NetBox plugins.
  • Preferred: Python experience for testing and tooling.
